Car Window Tinting

Car window tinting involves applying a specialist film to the vehicle's glass. The film changes the appearance and light transmission of the glass while providing practical benefits for drivers and passengers.

The level of tint is commonly described according to the percentage of light that passes through the glass and film. A lower percentage generally indicates a darker appearance, while a higher percentage allows more light through.

At Next Level Customs, we provide 30%, 50%, 70% and 90% tint strengths, allowing us to create different appearances depending on the vehicle and the glass being tinted.

A professional installation is important because the quality of the finished result depends on accurate preparation, careful application and appropriate curing. Poorly installed film can result in visible bubbles, creases, contamination or uneven edges.

Which Tint Percentage Is Allowed on Each Car Window?

Front Windscreen Tinting

Professional window tinting can be used across a variety of applications, making it a versatile option for vehicles, homes and commercial premises. Window film can alter the appearance of glass while providing benefits such as increased privacy and reduced glare. The right tint depends on the glass, the property or vehicle, the desired appearance and the purpose of the installation. Our approach focuses on achieving a professional finish that suits the individual application rather than using a one-size-fits-all solution.

Front Side Windows

The front side windows also need to meet the applicable light-transmission requirements.

Under roadworthiness testing regulations, the windscreen and front side windows require at least 65% light transmission.

The original factory glass must therefore be taken into account before adding film. Applying a film with a stated transmission percentage does not guarantee that the finished window will meet the required threshold.

For this reason, professional assessment is particularly important when considering tinting on the front side windows.

Rear Side Windows

The rules are different for the rear side windows.

The RSA confirms that the tint restrictions for the roadworthiness test apply to the windscreen and front side windows. The restrictions do not apply in the same way to the rear windows.

This provides considerably more flexibility for customers who want a darker appearance towards the rear of the vehicle.

Car Window Tint Aftercare

Proper aftercare helps the newly installed film cure correctly.

After tinting, we recommend keeping the vehicle's windows rolled up for one week so that the film has time to cure and adhere properly to the glass. During this period, customers may notice some bubbles or haziness.

These can occur during the curing process and should gradually disappear.

Once the tint has cured, the windows can be cleaned using a suitable glass cleaner and a soft cloth.

Avoid aggressive cleaning methods or anything that could scratch or lift the film around its edges.
